Extending and Retracting the Top Lift Frame

SBdanger

Before traversing, ensure that the Top Lift Frame is suspended above the trailer chassis as shown in the right hand diagram (below). Failure to do this may warp the crane base.

TLF Traverse

The Top Lift Frame extends independently from the crane modules' traversing. Because of the difference in size between the modules' and the frames' hydraulic cylinders, they do not move perfectly in sync, and need to be manually synchronised.

.

SBdanger

ALWAYS Ensure that the stowage poles are unhooked from the centre sleeve before attempting to extend or retract the top lift frame.

  1. Set the Mode knob on the remote control to Traverse. The rear joystick now operates the modules traverse and the front joystick operates the Top Lift Frame extension and retraction.
  2. With the front joystick, smoothly operate the Top Lift Frame traverse, while "tweaking" the rear joystick so that the cranes keep up with the frame.

To return the modules and frame to the 20' position, the same process applies, just reversing the direction of the joysticks.

SBcaution

The Top Lift Frame needs to be set to the 20' position to be stowed for travel.

SBdanger

DO NOT attempt to extend the Top Lift Frame by dragging it apart with the cranes. This could damage both cranes and frame and cause a serious accident.

DO NOT attempt to extend the Top Lift Frame while it is attached to a container.
