Description

Currently smartlift and DC controllers use different software for front and rear cranes.

Changes have ben made to allow both the front and rear cranes to use the same software.

Details

Systems using the old software have separate program files for the front and rear cranes. The appropriate program must be loaded into the correct crane else the system will not function. This limitation prevents swapping of ECU's between front and back cranes without first reprogramming them.

The old system used two files such as:

The new system uses one file like below:

SW-42100-5 ESX 362 RHL LM S2 PP HZ RS v01

Note: There has been a change to the naming of the files, See TB0083 for more details.

In the new system the same software is downloaded to front and rear crane ECU's.

There is a new downloading procedure "SL0027 Updating Front and Rear ECU Programmes with SW part numbers" which provides the details on how to download the new files.

Swapping ECU's

When diagnosing some problems it is useful to be able to swap the front and rear crane ECU's to identify if a fault is due to a faulty ECU or a wiring fault. With the old system it is not possible to do this without reprogramming the ECU's.

With the new system is is easy to swap front and rear crane ECU's as they both use the same software.

You can simply swap the ECU's, power cycle them and they will function correctly. If you wish to leave the ECU in the new location you MUST perform a calibration.

Models and Markets

All currently manufactured smartlift and DC models.

Some common earlier models. See full list of available programs in "ESX Program List.pdf" in the software release folder, See TB0085 for more details.

Other crane models that are not listed may be available on request.

Installation

Download the Crane software as per "SL0027 Updating Front and Rear ECU Programmes with SW part numbers"

Ensure both cranes have the new software installed. You cannot have one crane with old software and the other with new software.

There is no change to the memory layout so you do not have to perform a re-calibration when upgrading on an existing machine with software version 3.31 or higher.

You can check to see if the programs are installed correctly by viewing the system information page on the display. (This is subject to the display having the latest software, see TB0081 for details).

Backward Compatability

All SW programs are backwards compatible with the listed models and containing software 3.31 or higher.
