Before removing Bottom Arm, you will need to complete S0029 Removing Top Arm and S0031 Removing Top Arm Cylinder
For location of pins, refer to S0028 Crane Pin Names
Equipment:
- Cradle
- Lifting Strop of Lifting Chains
- Overhead Crane
- Pin Puller
How to Remove Bottom Arm:
- Raise bottom arm up until the C-pin is clear enough of the bash plate to be removed.
- Place a cradle between the bottom of the bottom arm cylinder and the module base, this will create a pivot point once the A-pin is removed.
- Remove the retaining bolts/circlip that retain the A-Pin and B-Pin.
- Connect strop or lifting chains through top arm to bottom arm pivot point, connect further strop or lifting chains through the bore that the top arm cylinder mounts through.
- With overhead crane or similar lifting equipment take the weight of the bottom arm.
- Remove wires for pressure sensors, angle sensors and night lights (if fitted).

|
Label all cables (pressure, bottom arm angle, top arm angle and lights) This will make it easier to replace them in the correct positions
|
- Pull top arm hydraulic hoses, sensor cables and night light wiring back down and out of cavity in the bottom arm.
- With bottom arm weight taken on crane, carefully remove A-Pin with a pin puller. Take note of where bottom arm pin shims are so these can be returned after repairs. Bottom arm will now pivot on the bottom arm cylinder. NOTE: Ensure that the bottom arm is suspended close to the point of balance.
- Carefully remove the B-Pin with a pin puller.
- Remove bottom arm and clean and place on trestles ready for repair/maintenance.
Reverse the procedure to refit, take note of shim position when refitting.
