This procedure is preceded by S0029 Removing Top Arm in Service Workshop.
For location of pins, refer to S0028 Crane Pin Names.
Equipment:
- Pin Puller
- Lifting Strop
- Overhead crane
- Multi-coloured Cable Ties
- General Tools
How to Remove Top Arm Cylinder:
- Remove retaining bolts from the E-pin.

|
Heating of the retaining bolt heads may be required to break Loctite.
|
- Connect a lifting strop around the centre of the cylinder and with an overhead crane or similar lifting equipment take the weight of the cylinder.
- Disconnect the hydraulic hoses and take care to identify which hose goes to which port.(different colour cable ties are good for this) Make sure all residue pressure is released before disconnecting hoses by manually moving the handles on the valve banks.
- With a pin puller, carefully remove the E-pin. The cylinder can now be removed and cleaned ready for repairs.
- Plug hydraulic hoses and cap cylinder block ports.
To refit cylinder, follow the same procedure in reverse, applying Loctite where necessary.
