This procedure continues on from S0033 Removing and Replacing the Stabiliser Extension Cylinder in Service Workshop.
For Pin positions, refer to S0028 Crane Pin Names.
Raise stabiliser housing enough to place a cradle between stabiliser cylinder and module base and lower cylinder until it contacts with cradle.
Take care not to crush any wiring or hydraulic hoses. |
Remove pin keeper bolts from the L-pin. If required, heat the bolt heads to break Loctite.
If required, disconnect Smartlift sensor wires from module junction box (this will be junction box C or D )
Take care to mark position each cable is removed from and also which terminal each wire is removed from. Failure to do this may result in an incorrect reconnection, which will damage the ECUs. |
Remove 16mm plug situated in the top of the leg extension housing, fit an eye bolt into this lifting point.
Disconnect hydraulic hoses that go around H-pin. Plug the hoses and cap the pipes. Ensure all residue pressure has been released before doing this operation.
Remove pin keeper bolts from the H-pin. If required, heat the bolt heads to break Loctite.
Using a lifting strop and an overhead crane or similar lifting device connected to the eye bolt, take the weight of the stabiliser housing.
Using a pin puller carefully draw out the H-pin. Stabiliser housing should now only be connected by the stabiliser tilt cylinder.
Using a pin puller carefully draw out the L-pin.
Stabiliser housing should now be free, and ready for removal from sidelifter.
Once stabiliser is removed wash and place on trestles so repairs can be carried out.
For information on how to replace the bearings, refer to S0035 Replacing Bearings.
