A new hydraulic cylinder supplier is now being used on the Steelbro sidelifters. The fundamental geometry of the cylinders is unchanged however they use a different seal kit and have different internal componentry. There are also some visual difference between previous cylinders and the new supply. For example the barrels of certain cylinders are shorter because the pistons and glands have been shortened and standardized. The new cylinders can be identified by their serial numbers (which are stamped on the barrel boss), they have an "SX" prefix.
Models SB121, SB122, SB330, SB361 and SB401 in all markets.
The first unit to be fitted with these cylinders was SB8383. The cylinders have since been used in production on units SB8543 onwards. Not all units after this serial number will have been fitted with the new cylinders and not all cylinders on a particular sidelifter will necessarily be of the new type.
Please contact Steelbro Spare Parts to confirm which type of cylinder was used for a specific model before ordering spares.

The new cylinders are completely backward compatible with existing cylinders (except seal kits which are not interchangeable)
