Container Joiners are also sometimes known as linklocks or container connectors. They allow the
operator to lift 2 x 20 foot containers on and off the sidelifter by linking their abutting corners
together.
Regardless of the load rating of the sidelifter, the container joiners are rated for a MAXIMUM weight for each container of 15,000kg. Exceeding this maximum is dangerous. |
The container joiner can handle containers of 8', 8'6", 9' & 9'6" Height.
Containers of unequal height can be linked together.
The top spacer provided takes up the clearance between the containers at the top. This helps to keep
the containers as level as possible when lifting. It also prevents damage occurring between the
containers, especially when lifting containers of unequal height.
The top spacer is fitted using a pole, adjustable in length for different height containers.
The base connector fits between the bottom corner castings of the two containers at the side. It can
swivel in all directions to take up misalignment between the containers.
When not in use, the container joiners and poles are mounted by means of special brackets to the
side of the sidelifter chassis.
Fitting
1. Hook the top spacer into the top abutting corner casting of one container, using the pole to
lift them into place (see diagram below). If the two containers are of unequal height, fit the
spacer to the shorter container.
2. Hook the load binder hook at the bottom of the pole into the bottom corner casting, and
tension the load binder. This retains the top spacer to the container.
3. Fit the base connectors between the containers. Latch the handles by rotating them 90
degrees into the U shaped rubber retainer.
If the containers are misaligned on the ground, fit one base connector first, and use the sidelifter to pivot the containers gently so that the other base connector can be fitted. You may need to use this technique to release the base connectors as well. If the containers are of unequal weight, take extra care. When the containers are lowered, one container may jump slightly as the first container touches the ground or Sidelifter deck. |
