After a successful trial period starting 1 July 2005, we can now confirm that Steelbro Sidelifters have changed to a new High Solids Acrythane (HSA) 2K Paint (i.e. paint and hardener).
Steelbro has chosen Durepox Primer by Resene Automotive & Performance Coatings for its incredible toughness, resilience and ability to stop corrosion. It has a prestigious history of use in wide ranging markets because of its many benefits in and outside the Commercial Transport sector.
Steelbro also sought a more durable and wear resistant topcoat paint to meet the needs of some of the world's harshest environments. High Solids Acrythane (HSA) proved the most versatile and resilient coating. This product was created initially to meet the military requirements for a CARC (Chemical Agent Resistant Coating) specification and has proven very successful on NZ Army Armoured Troop Carriers.
Initially introduced to Steelbro to reduce consumable wastage, the Graco Electrostatic spray system installed for application of primer and paint has brought even more benefits to Steelbro's customers. The system ensures 'edge build up' of paint that gives higher protection to most commonly damaged areas. It has greater consistency in film depth and gets into otherwise tricky areas to maximise the protection. Overall paint builds up and the uniform finish attained is unmatched by conventional spray options.
Affects all Steelbro Sidelifter and Trailer models manufactured in New Zealand only.
For touch up or repair and repaint, other paints can be used with it such as IMRON
