Suspension change to HT230TA15-523 and HT230TA15-524

Description:

Hendrickson are now supplying two different suspensions, HT230TA15-523 and HT230TA15-524, to replace the HT230TA15-522 we have been using. (See: File:P:\OEMLIB\Hendrickson\New HT230 Suspension.msg)

HT230TA15-524 is specifically a "road friendly" design which is for the Australian market only.

HT230TA15-523 will be fitted to all other markets.

To accommodate an increase in ride height ranges, the Air Spring Mount and Shock Absorber Mount have been changed.

HT230TA15-522 had the Air Spring Mount, a 20mm spacer and Shock Absorber Mount as an assembly.

HT230TA15-523 and HT230TA15-524 have the Air Spring Mount and Shock Absorber Mount as separate items. There is also an optional 28mm Plastic Spacer and Air Spring Hardware kit.

Both HT230TA15-523 and HT230TA15-524 when fitted without the spacer have a ride height range of 350mm to 381mm. If the spacer is fitted the ride height range is 378mm to 409mm.

The spacer can be fitted or removed to increase/decrease the ride height range without any other modifications to the suspension apart from adjusting the Ride Height control valve. (e.g. Converting Australian SB360's and SB330's from 1250 rub plate height on 11R tyres, to 1140 rub plate height on 255/70 tyres).

Models and Markets:

HT230TA15-524 Australian market only.

HT230TA15-523 will be fitted to all other markets.

Backward Compatibility:

If replacing an entire HT230TA15-522 suspension, the HT230TA15-523 or HT230TA15-524 can be used as long as the Shock Absorber Mount is fitted at the height specified in File:P:\OEMLIB\Hendrickson\HT230TA15-523 Steelbro.dwg or File:P:\OEMLIB\Hendrickson\HT230TA15-524 Steelbro.dwg

Use Instructions:

Manufacturing:

As not all drawings have been updated the Shock Absorber Mount must fitted at the height specified in File:P:\OEMLIB\Hendrickson\HT230TA15-523 Steelbro.dwg or File:P:\OEMLIB\Hendrickson\HT230TA15-524 Steelbro.dwg. The Air Spring Cross member should be fitted as per the dimension shown on the chassis drawing.

Spare Parts:

See File:P:\OEMLIB\Hendrickson\Parts lists\HT230TA15-523 parts list.dwg and

File:P:\OEMLIB\Hendrickson\Parts lists\HT230TA15-524 parts list.dwg

Benefits and Advantages to Change:

General:

Having the Shock Absorber Mount as a separate part allows it to be welded across the bottom which will make it stronger.

Manufacturing:

Not having the 20mm spacer and Shock Absorber Mount attached to the Air Spring Mount saves them having to be cut off, as we do, for various applications.
