Summary:
For all SMARTlift machines ex-works for 2006 we have a new revision of the SMARTlift control system. This new revision can be identified by the SMARTlift decal with a 2.0 in the top left hand corner on the 'Start Key Junction Box' (circled in the image below).

SMARTlift Sidelifters without the Load Monitoring (LM) option will now be known as Digital Control (DC). A new decal for the Start Key Enclosure has been designed for DC machines (refer image below).

Description:
New for the SMARTlift control system revision 2.0 and the DC control system;
- ENGINE MONITORING: We have incorporated a Kubota Engine Monitoring System into the SMARTlift and DC systems. This new feature continuously monitors the engine oil pressure, water temperature and alternator. If there is low engine oil pressure, high water temperature or the alternator is not charging then an audible alarm will be triggered. A relevant message will appear on the LCD display. In the case of oil pressure and water temperature alarms the Kubota engine will be shutdown automatically after 20seconds in order to prevent permanent damage from occurring.
- SAFETY: We have incorporated an optional Park Brake Sensor to prevent the operator from operating the Sidelifter without activating the park brake. This is to prevent operators from traversing cranes while driving or accidentally deploying stabilisers while the trailer is moving.
- DIAGNOSTICS: It is now possible to fully diagnose the Hetronic radio remote via the LCD screen; all joystick, switch and push button values can now be displayed.
- ELECTRICAL:
- We have implemented improved fusing of the electrical circuit.
- A Fast Acting Diode has replaced the Voltage Sensitive Relay. This increases the discharge time of the ECU battery, reducing the possibility of the battery being completely exhausted if the Start Key is left in the 'ON' position for extended periods of time.
Models and Markets:
Models affected by this change are all SMARTlift equipped machines, SB330, SB361, SB401, and all Digital Control only machines SB330.
Backward Compatibility:
Note: Pre 2006 SMARTlift machines are not upgradeable to this new revision 2.0.
Benefits and Advantages to Change:
The improvements made to revision 2.0 are as a result of customer feedback and experience gained from the in-service use of SMARTlift equipped machines.
The more advanced engine monitoring features provide protection against engine damage and will increase the life of the engine ensuring that it is never run dry or overheated due to negligence. Monitoring of the alternator also minimizes downtime due to a flat battery ensuring the unit is always operational to provide valuable earnings.
The optional Park Brake Sensor minimizes Sidelifter damage and potential damage to third party property or life.
