S0018 Anti-Theft ring for Malaysian Units

The following is a procedure for preventing/reducing the theft of chain slings. This information letter was specifically produced for the Malaysian units.

There are a few simple steps to follow:

1. Cut out a ring from 10mm steel plate. The plate maybe of the following grades; Grade 250 or Grade 350. The ring should be to the dimensions in figure 1.
2. Tidy up ring. Remove all slag from gas cutting.
3. Clamp ring onto the head of the G pin as shown in figure 2, making sure ring is concentric to G pin shaft. Once clamped into position secure the ring to the head of the G pin using tacks or small stitch welds as shown in figure 2.
4. Clean up welds and paint ring.
