The machine should be started and all functions operated to warm up the oil, then the arms and legs returned to their stowed position. For cylinder shift machines the cranes should be left in the 40foot position

  1. Close the oil tank isolating valves and disconnect the low pressure hoses at the pump inlet.
  2. Turn on the isolating valves and drain oil from the tank.
  3. Remove the tank filter element and hopper and clean the inside of the tank thoroughly.
  4. Fit the hopper and a new filter element assembly (ensure magnetic collector is clean).
  5. Close the oil tank isolating valves and fill the tank to the upper level in the sight glass (approx 100L).
  6. Prior to connecting the inlet hoses to the pump, turn on each isolating valve briefly to flush the hoses. After the hoses have been connected ensure isolating valves are "Turned On".
  7. Change the high pressure oil filter element.
  8. Disconnect the return hose at the tank filter inlet, connect up an extension to this hose to drain into an empty 209 litre drum.
  9. Select crane traverse on the remote control unit, start the engine and immediately traverse the cranes to the 20foot position then stop the engine.
  10. Select stabilizers and high speed on the remote control.
  11. Start the engine and immediately tilt both stabilizer legs to their maximum angle then extend the stabilizer legs until the feet contact the ground. Stop the engine as soon as the feet touch the ground.
  12. Top up the oil tank to the upper level and select arms on the remote control.

Start the engine and immediately raise both top arms and bottom arms to their maximum travel and stop the engine.

  13. Check the oil level in the tank is no more than 1/4 full.
  14. Reconnect the oil return hose to the tank filter inlet.

Start the engine and return the arms and legs to their stowed position, top up the oil to the level shown on the sight glass.

This completes the oil change procedure.
