Leg Extension Cylinder Removal
- Ensure the leg tilt housing is in the fully stowed position.
- Extend the leg extension housing out fully.
- Remove the bolt that locates the pin through the stabilizer foot/extension housing and the cylinder. You will need a suitable working platform to perform this task.
- Use a a soft drift (e.g brass or similar) of around 300mm to carefully drive out the pin that connects the foot to the housing. Take care that the foot does not fall, as this may cause serious injury.
- Retract the leg extension cylinder when the foot is removed.
- Release the residue pressure in the cylinder by working the manual levers after the engine has been shut down when the cylinder is retracted.
- Remove the hydraulic and cap hoses and plug the cylinder fittings.
- Attach a lifting strop around the centre of the cylinder and take the weight with an overhead crane or similar.
- Remove the locating circlips from the pin attaching the leg extension cylinder to the stabilizer tilt housing.
- Use a soft drift to carefully drive the pin out that connects the leg extension cylinder to the stabilizer tilt housing.
- Lift the cylinder up and at the same time, slide the cylinder out of the guide blocks in the leg extension housing. You may need to reposition the lifting strop several times to achieve this if you do not have an overhead crane or similar.
- Ensure the lifting strop is positioned in the centre of the cylinder once the cylinder is clear of the extension housing.
- Lift the cylinder and lower behind the stabilizer tilt housing until it is resting on the chassis flanges.
- Check that the cylinder is secure and then continue to lower to the floor.
- Push the leg extension housing in by hand and secure for storage.
- Wash the cylinder and send for servicing.
